Car Insurance Lexus (Car Insurance). Will an amp that sends 457watts at 2ohms work with a sub w/ 500rms?Will an amp that sends 457watts at 2ohms work with a sub w/ 500rms? Or should i get an amp that at 2ohms, gives 500watts or a little more ? if you want a good amp producing 500 watts rms to 1 channel the i recommend the rocksford fosgate Prime R500-1 mono subwoofer amplifier. It is a very good amp with no bs ratings. it puts out a little more than 500 rms at 2 ohms and gets the job done. Dont purchase it directly from rocksford fosgate they are a little over priced. but for your question, if that is 457 rms at 2 ohms it should work just fine, 43 watts rms wont make too much difference but if you dont think its putting out what it says go with the R500-1 Those numbers don't mean anything. RMS (root mean square) is a meaningless number for audio purposes. The number that's important on amps is continuous power at a given frequency range and distortion level. An Amp that has 1000 watts at 1khz at 10% distortion is less of an amp that has 100 watts at 10hz to 20khz at .1% distortion. Speaker ratings are equally meaningless. You can hook any speaker to any amp, if the speaker can not handle it, it will be damaged. If the amp distorts and clips, the speaker may be burned out by the square waves even though it's well within the power rating. It's all a matter of CLEAN power. 50 watts of clean power is better than 500 watts of distorted dirty power. The short answer to your question is yes, you can certainly hook that up and it will work. the in-car difference between ~450w and ~500w is nothing. It wouldn't make a bit of difference. Lexus . How to Replace Dash Lights on a 2008 Ford TaurusThe 2008 Ford Taurus comes equipped with several dash lights on the instrument panel. These lights serve the dual purposes of illuminating the instrument panel in darkened conditions and lighting up certain indicators whenever there is an issue with your Ford Taurus. To test if any of the lights need to be replaced, switch the ignition one click forward from the "OFF" position, but do not turn the engine on. This will illuminate all the dash lights, allowing you to see which lights need to be replaced. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Slotted screwdriver Phillips screwdriver 194-type bulbs Step by Step : 1 Turn off the engine of the Taurus, and open the hood. 2 Remove the negative ("-") battery terminal from the battery in the engine compartment using a socket wrench. 3 Insert a slotted screwdriver between the covers on the steering wheel column, and pry upwards. Pull off both the upper and the lower covers. 4 Position the steering wheel as low as it can go. 5 Remove the two screws above the Taurus' instrument panel and the four screws below it using a Phillips screwdriver. 6 Insert a slotted screwdriver into the dashboard trim, and pull upwards to pry it off the vehicle. Disengage the eight snap clips from the dashboard trim by hand, and pull it out of the vehicle. 7 Uninstall the two securing screws from the instrument panel with a Phillips screwdriver. 8 Pull the instrument panel towards you, and reach behind it to disconnect the two wiring plugs. Pull the instrument panel out of the Taurus. 9 Replace any burned-out bulbs from the underside of the instrument panel with new bulbs. Pull the old bulb off, and push the new bulb in. Step by Step : 10 Reassemble the instrument panel and dashboard trim in the reverse order of removal. Reconnect the battery, and close the hood. Tips & Warnings If you do not disconnect the battery before beginning to take apart the dashboard, you may accidentally set off the airbags.
Lexus . How to Replace the Dash Lights in a TaurusThe dash lights on the Ford Taurus are inside the instrument panel. In order to access the instrument panel, the dashboard itself must be removed from the vehicle. A screwdriver is the only tool required to remove the dashboard, and you will need spare bulbs to replace the lights. Replacing the dash lights takes only about 30 minutes to do. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Flat head screwdriver Phillips head screwdriver Replacement 194-type bulbs Step by Step : 1 Turn off the Taurus' engine and open the hood. Use a socket wrench to remove the battery's negative terminal then wait 30 minutes. This will allow time to disable the airbags to avoid accidental deployment when you are removing the dashboard. 2 Insert a flat head screwdriver between the upper and lower covers of the steering wheel's column and pry off the covers. 3 Remove the four screws above the instrument panel and the two screws below the instrument panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. 4 Insert the flat head screwdriver between the dashboard trim and the vehicle's frame on the driver's side. Remove the trim. 5 Remove the two screws securing the instrument panel in place with the Phillips head screwdriver. 6 Swivel the instrument panel toward the windshield and remove the electrical harness from the back of the panel. 7 Pull the instrument panel out of the vehicle. Remove any of the old burnt-out bulbs from the underside of the panel and replace them with new bulbs. Reinstall the instrument panel and dashboard in the reverse order of removal. 8 Reconnect the battery to the vehicle and close the hood. *4. Disconnect the hoses that lead to and from the pump. Consult the sections on hoses and hose clamps earlier in this chapter. If the hose clamps look funky or brittle, replace them with new ones of the gear type shown earlier in Figure 14-8. 5. Remove any brackets or components that are blocking access to the water pump, and unscrew the bolts that hold the water pump hi place. Be sure to lay down everything you've removed in the order in which you removed it, with each part facing the same direction as it was on the car. This way, you can put everything back in reverse order, with no guessing about which end was up or which bolt went where. Chapter 1 has instructions for taking anything apart and getting it back together again. 6. Remove the pump and its gasket. Scrape the spot clean and finish off the job with some sandpaper. Use an adhesive/sealant to attach the new gasket to the water pump. Allow the sealant to dry before installing the pump. 715

If the liquid you drained from the system was clean, and you changed the coolant less than a year ago, you can reuse it. If not, save yourself money and labor by flushing the system at the same time, following the instructions earlier in this chapter. 8. Replace the radiator cap and bleed the air out of the system, if necessary. Your owner's manual should tell you whether bleeding a system is necessary, and how to do so. 9. Run the engine while you check for leaks. . Chapter 14: Keeping Your Car from Getting Heartburn 2 t Q Pressure-testing the cooling system If you can't locate the source of a leak and your vehicle is losing liquid from the cooling system on a regular basis, drive to your service station and ask the attendants to test the pressure in your cooling system. They'll probably use a cooling system pressure tester to do so. The tool is inexpensive, and the test involves very little time or labor, so a friendly technician may do the test for nothing. While you're at it, have the technician pressure-test the radiator pressure cap as well. If you have an old vehicle that hasn't had its cooling system serviced or rebuilt in a long time, pressure-testing the system may dislodge the deposits Lexus . Adjusting and Replacing Accessory Belts Chapter 3 tells you how to check accessory belts. Whether or not you can adjust or replace a belt yourself depends on the type of belt(s) you have. Serpentine multi-accessory belts On most modern vehicles, a single, long, flat belt called a serpentine multi-accessory drive belt (see Figure 14-10) drives all the engine accessories. This belt winds its way around every accessory pulley, and on the way winds tightly around a "tensioner" pulley that keeps the belt to the correct tension. In cases where it is possible to adjust the tensioner, you usually find something that indicates the correct tension. Figure 14-10: Serpentine multi-accessory drive belt. Part "l: Kee Pin9 Your Car m Good Condition, System by System Figuring out whether a belt is at the right tension isn't easy just by looking at it, but if the belt is loose, you'll hear squeaky noises when you accelerate sharply. (With the hood up and the emergency brake on, have a friend accelerate the engine while you listen. Be sure to keep your hair and clothing away from the belt.) If the belt squeaks, have a professional replace both the belt and the tensioner because, in many cases, radiators and air conditioning condensers may have to be removed to allow access to the belt, and it may be difficult to remove it and insert a new one.
